Pietà

when the sun bleeds
pierced by the lances of the firs
and the robin grooms its chest
in a rippling song of blood
I am struck by the beauty
of the stretching silhouettes
borne across the shaking lap of the earth
the shadows will rise again
as they touch the rock face
on the other side of the field
